![]() ![]() ![]() There are ten books in the original series to read, which take you through life as Hiccup sees it and him growing up and learning how to handle life, love, fierce dragons, and leadership. ![]() The style of the books is fast and fun, and the language is great and incredibly descriptive and expressive, sometimes slightly stomach-churning (it can get a bit gross, I think that is why my kids like it) and it’s a rollercoaster adventure with Hiccup and his friends and their dragons as they face their enemies and what life throws at them. If you haven’t read the books then you are really missing out and you should (and see below for a chance to win some) but the theme of the books is the story of a boy, Hiccup, learning to live with dragons whilst also facing the reality of being the future then becoming the chief of a tribe of intersting islanders in a place in the back of beyond. We started reading them with the boy, about two years ago, and have slowly collected all of the books and watched the movies as well (and the tv series) which do tend to deviate from the books a bit but are still brilliant. ![]()
